Syllabus - Kup Grades

For each grade, there is a syllabus requirement that is subject to satisfactory assessment before moving to the next grade. The syllabus for each grade, for 2008, encompasses elements from 5 broad categories:

1.Patterns (Tuls) & Basic Techniques
2. Sparring (Matsoki)
3. Self Defence
4. Power Test
5. Theory Test and the Tenets
 

Beginner 10th Kup (White Belt) to 9th Kup (Yellow Tag)

1.Basic Techniques:
- Saju Jirugi
- 10 Sitting Stance Mid Section Forefist Punches
- L Stance Forearm Guarding Block
2.Sparring:
- Free Sparring: Alternate Kicking Sparring with one opponent (non contact) 
- Fixed Sparing: Three Step Sparring-1
3.Self Defence: Release from Single Shoulder or Wrist Hold
4.Power Test: Front Snap Kick with Base of Foot (Ap Kumchi)  
5.Theory & Terminology:
Student, Instructor, Training Hall, Training Room, Stance, Kick, Block, Power, History of TaeKwon-Do, Theory of Power

9th to 8th Kup (Yellow Tag to Yellow Belt)

1.Chon-Ji Tul, Sitting Stance Middle & High Section Punch
2.Alternate Double Kicking Sparring, Three Step Sparring-2
3.Release from Double Front Throat or Lapel Holds
4.Power Test: Stepping Side Piercing Kick with Side of Heel (Bal Kal)

8th to 7th Kup (Yellow Belt to Green Tag)
