Stances (Sogi) are the foundation of every TaeKwon-Do technique. As students of TaeKwon-Do, irrespective of grade, Stance work is a fundamental part of training to develop Power.

1.Walking Stance
Stance 3
  • For Forwards Balance
  • 50% weight on each foot
  • Back foot turned slightly outwards
  • Front Leg knee slightly flexed
Stance 4
  • Allows faster front leg kicking, such as in Free Sparring
  • 70% weight on back foot
  • Both feet turned slightly outwards
  • Both knees slightly flexed
3.Sitting Stance
Stance 2
  • For directing power forwards
  • 50% weight on each foot
  • Both feet parallel
  • Both knees slightly flexed
