Black Belt School

The Black Belt School trains weekly to study Degree Grade Patterns, Sparring and the Black Belt Syllabus. This will not normally be taught at Kup Grade Classes. The Classes are also open to Red Belts and above in preparation for their 1st Degree Grading.

 

Certification

All Students who reach 1st Degree will be presented with an NTX Schools Certification. Any student who wishes to obtain an ICTF Certificate can apply for one from Head Office at a charge of $100, we can no longer provide this free of charge.

Trimmed Black Belt Doboks are available to purchase but we will no longer be able to provide these free of charge.

Please note that new Black Belt School Hooded Tops are being redesigned and will be reintroduced in January 2013 the tops will be charged at cost price.

Degree Grade Examinations
The Examination for Black Belt Degree Grades takes place every six months. Students receive an embroidered Black Belt & ICTF Certificate if successful. Please see your Instructor for details of the Black Belt Thesis – For Questions see below. From March 2010, a new NTX Certificate will also be issued to successful candidates. A Black Belt Embroidered Dobok can be purchased from the BB School Instructor.

Senior Kup Grading Examinations
Senior Grades are 3rd Kup Red Tag and above, irrespective of age. Please refer to your Membership Handbook for Attendance Requirements prior to Senior Grading Examinations. Applications for Grading Examinations should be completed on the ‘Senior Kup Grade’ or ‘Degree Grade’ Applications, available on the Downloads Page. The ICTF Black Belt application form is to be completed and returned with your application for full Degree Grades – Eg.1st Degree, 2nd Degree etc.
Grading Fees – All Ages
3rd Kup to 2nd Kup – £60
2nd Kup to 1st Kup – £60
1st Kup to 1st Degree – £90 (Minimum Age 8 Years)
1st to 2nd Degree – £90 (Minimum Age 13 Years and must show correct attitude and maturity, instructors reserve the right to hold back any student who they feel needs time to mature before 2nd Degree)
2nd Degree to 3rd Degree - £90 (Minimum Age 18 Years)
3rd Degree to 4th Degree – £90 (Minimum Age 25 Years + 8 Years since 1st Degree grading date)
Thesis for Degree Black Belt Grades
To bring 1 week before your Black Belt Grading Examination. Thesis is only required for full Degree Grades (Eg.1st Degree, 2nd Degree etc.). A4 Paper, Bound in Presentation Folder. Typed Text, Numbered Pages, Contents Page. Front page is to include the Text “Black Belt Thesis”, Your Name and the date of the examination. Photos to be used with the permission of the individual in the photograph. The thesis will be returned to you after your examination. Each Questions requires a new page:
1st Degree Thesis
1.Describe your understanding of the Theory of Power with regard to Mass, Acceleeration, Jirugi, Sine Wave, Reaction, Concentration, Breath Control etc.
2.Give the Korean Terms for the following:
  • Walking Stance Forefist Obverse Mid Section Punch / Walking Stance High Section Outer Forearm Side Block / L Stance Knife Hand Guarding Block / Walking Stance High Section Double Forearm Block / Rear Foot Stance Upwards Palm Block / Sitting Stance W-Shape Block / L Stance Low Section Pushing Block / Vertical Stance Downwards Knife Hand Strike / L Stance X Knife Hand Checking Block
3.What are the main differences between a Kup Grade Belt and a Black Belt?
4.How are you now a different student to when you first started TaeKwon-Do?
5.Give the meaning, pattern diagram and number of movements for any 3 Kup Grade patterns
6.Illustrate any 4 Hand Weapons and any 4 Foot Weapons suitable for TaeKwon-Do technique.
2nd  Degree Thesis
1.Describe the use of Sine wave in relation to any Walking Stance technique of your choice
2.Give the Korean Terms for the following:
  • L Stance Front Knife Hand Checking Block / Walking stance Double Arc Hand Block / Sitting Stance 9 Shap Block / Fixed Stance U Shape Grasp / Closed stance twin high horizontal elbow thrust
3.Describe the differnt types of Twisting kick, their application and targets
4.Describe the full history of any of either Kwang-Gae, Po-Eun or Ge-Baek Tuls
3rd Degree Thesis
1.What in your opinion is the difference between a Black Belt Student and a Black Belt Instructor?
2.What is the History of Pattern Juche?
3.Describe the use of X Stance in Attacking Techniques
4.What is the military equivilant or significance of Patterns in TaeKwon-Do training?
4th Degree Thesis
1.What in your opinion is the difference between a National and International Instructor?
2.What is the History of Pattern Yoo-Sin?
3.Describe the use of L Stance in Attacking Techniques?
4.What is the military equivilant or significance of Free Sparring in TaeKwon-Do training?
5th Degree Thesis
1.Describe how you have applied the Tenets of TaeKwon-Do in the role of a Tournament Organsier?
2.What is the History of Pattern Yon-Gae?
3.Describe the use of Sitting Stance in Attacking Techniques?
4.What is the military equivilant or significance of Fixed or Set in TaeKwon-Do training?
